Borings & Soil Sampling

Testing done to obtain soil samples and geotechnical engineering parameters.

Borings and soil sampling are performed utilizing a Geoprobe drill rig, or other industry-standard, according to ASTM D1586 Penetration Test and Split Barrel Sampling of Soils.

Following ASTM D2488 recommended practice for description of soils and uniform soil classifications, a boring report is generated which illustrates soil profile and soils description with blow counts, which explains density and support of soils and measures groundwater if encountered.

An ‘N’ value, standard penetration resistance, is an indicator of safe bearing capacity of the soil allowing foundation and septic design to move construction forward.
